The brick section of the house was built in 1790 by Mr. Ezra Graves. He and his family lived in the house and farmed the land.

ln 1847 Edmund Blood became the owner of Blood Farm. Edmund Blood was born in Groton on February 12, 1804. He was a direct descendant of Richard Blood who came to Groton in 1655 or 1656.

Edmund Blood was a dairy farmer and raised hops. He sold them to a brewery in New Hampshire. He also was granted one of the first licenses in Massachusetts to operate an abattoir that is still in existence. Upon his death in 1882 Edmund Lewis Blood, his son, who was born in West Groton in 1832, continued the operation of Blood Farm. At his passing in 1918, the farm and business went to his son Charles Edmund Elliot Blood and in 1930 the farming business and abattoir went to his son Elliot L. Blood, Sr.


Elliot L. Blood, Jr. and Doris Blood purchased the farm and business in 1971. Their son Richard became the owner of Blood Farm after their passing.
